Project MUSE Announces Continued Journal Collections Pricing Freeze and Title Updates

Project MUSE Journal Collection subscription pricing will again remain flat for 2022, meaning fees for all MUSE collections will continue to be frozen at 2020 prices. MUSE recognizes the shared mission and goals of our library customers and the not-for-profit publishers whose journals we offer, and is choosing to freeze prices for the second year in a row to sustainably support the availability of essential, trusted resources for institutions impacted by the economic, political, and social challenges of the global pandemic.

Project MUSE Journal Collections are a mainstay of academic, special, and school libraries worldwide, providing researchers and students with enormous breadth and depth of content across hundreds of peer-reviewed titles in a wide variety of core humanities and social science disciplines. Well over 100 publishers, from university presses to scholarly societies to independent departmentally-based titles, make their journals available in MUSE collections, including flagship titles in literature, history, religious studies, performing arts, cultural studies, political science, education, area studies, philosophy,  sociology, gender studies, media and film, and creative writing, among many others.

“With our recent grant from the Mellon Foundation to explore the Subscribe to Open (S2O) model, and the expansion of our journal hosting program and single title subscription offerings, Project MUSE is building towards a future with a broader, more flexible array of options for accessing journal content on our platform,” explains Wendy Queen, Director of Project MUSE. “As we work towards the expansion of the innovative, equitable business models we can support, we wish to ensure libraries and scholars may continue to maintain the widest possible access to our vital humanities and social science scholarship.”

Selected titles will join the Premium Collection, MUSE’s largest collection with current access to nearly 700 scholarly journals, for 2022:

• AJS Review: The Journal of the Association for Jewish Studies
• Classical Journal
• CUSP: Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century Cultures
• Resilience: A Journal of the Environmental Humanities

See the complete list of additions and changes to MUSE journal collections for 2022. Libraries currently subscribing to MUSE journal collections, and MUSE consortium partners, should expect more information shortly regarding renewing for the next calendar year term.
