With the addition of eight journals in 2022, all of IUP's subscription titles will be on the MUSE platform with fulfillment handled by the Johns Hopkins University Press

Project MUSE is pleased to announce that, beginning in 2022, eight journals from Indiana University Press will be added to the MUSE Hosting Program and with their addition, all of IUP's subscription titles will be on the MUSE platform. The new IUP journal titles, along with the volume year for which coverage on the MUSE platform will begin, are as follows:

  • Journal of Education in Muslim Societies (Vol. 1, No. 1, Fall 2019)
  • Pakistan Journal of Historical Studies (Vol. 1, No. 1, Summer 2016)
  • Philanthropy & Education (Vol. 1, No 1, Fall 2017)
  • Recreation, Parks, and Tourism in Public Health (Vol. 1, 2017)

Journals in the MUSE hosting program are not included in the MUSE journal collections, but libraries may take up individual subscriptions to access the titles on the platform. Those IUP titles currently included in MUSE journal collections will remain available via the collections.

According to Michael Regoli, Director of Publishing Operations at Indiana University Press, "In today's increasingly global dialogue, it's vital to make scholarship available to researchers in a timely manner. Having a trusted partner in Project MUSE—and its global reach in disseminating humanities and social sciences content—allows Indiana University Press to engage larger audiences with its journal scholarship and amplify the voices of our authors. We’re pleased to expand our decades-long partnership with Project MUSE and look forward to working with our colleagues at Johns Hopkins University Press."

The collaboration with Project MUSE accompanies Indiana University Press' recently-established partnership with Johns Hopkins University Press, home to Project MUSE. Earlier this year, JHU Press began handling IUP’s journal fulfillment, working in partnership to manage subscriptions, distribution, and customer service for IUP’s full catalog of 37 scholarly journal titles.

"JHU Press welcomes our collaboration with Indiana University Press growing to include our Project MUSE colleagues." JHU Press Journals Publisher William Breichner noted. "Our team looks forward to a long working partnership with IUP and their impressive catalog of scholarly journals."

Content from the eight Indiana University Press journals, beginning with the volumes indicated above and through current issues, will be available on the MUSE platform by the beginning of 2022. Libraries wishing to subscribe or needing to renew single title subscriptions to these and the other 29 Indiana journals may do so via their usual subscription agency, or by emailing jrnlcirc@jh.edu or via our online form (requires creation of a user account). MUSE will distribute metadata for the titles to our many discovery partners, and subscribing libraries will be able to access custom holdings data and COUNTER-compliant usage statistics through the MUSE Library Dashboard. The eight newly-added journals were previously hosted on JSTOR.

Project MUSE is also home to over 2,000 book titles from Indiana University Press, many of them available open access. Browse all Indiana University Press content currently on MUSE.
